
Head Coach, Ryan Mansfield is entering his second summer with the Nevada Griffons and his fiirst as Head Coach. Mansfield will work with the hitters, catchers and outfielders. He comes to the Griffons from Fort Scott Community college were he is in his fourth year as assitant coach. His main duties at Fort Scott are working with hitters, catchers and outfielders. He also serves as the recruiting coordinator and field maintenance supervisor. Ryan is also an associate scout wit the Boston Red Sox.
Before coaching, Mansfield played one year at Brown Mackie College in Salina, Kansas before transferring to William Woods University in Fulton, Missouri. Mansfield graduated with his degree in Pre-Law after being named Academic All-American and distinguished scholar.
Mansfield is a native of Lake Havasu City, Arizona. He is the son of Ed and Connie Mansfield. He is currently single and living in Fort Scott, Kansas.
Assistant Coach Ryan Takach was a non-drafted free agent in 1999 of the Arizona Diamondbacks where he pitched Low-A at South Bend/Advanced Rookie at Missoula in 2000. During that time he worked with 2 Cy Young winners Mark Davis and John Denny. He played for Arizona Diamondbacks Third Base Coach Chip Hale while in Missoula and spent time with Gil Patterson who has been a pitching coach in the Major Leagues. Prior to his release in 2001 he had the chance to work with several pitchers still pitching in the Major Leagues today. After being released in 2001 he played in the Frontier League where in his first year was second in complete games in the league.
In college Ryan played at Western Michigan University for 700 game-winning Coach Fred Decker. Prior to that he played 2 seasons for NAIA Hall of Fame Coach Sam Riggleman who is one of the best pitching mentors in all of baseball. After professional baseball he graduated with a BS in Business-Management from Indiana University South Bend.
During high school Ryan played for Penn High School Coach Greg Dikos who has 3 state championships under his belt. Ryan was a member of the 1994 Indiana State Championship Team.
After retiring from professional baseball in 2002 Ryan went on to coach at Premier Baseball School in Chandler, OK and Around The Horn Baseball in Kalamazoo, MI.
He now resides in Granger, IN.
